New Toy

ipod touchesGot a new iPod Touch yesterday.  Loving it.  I finally figured out how to sync it with my calendar and contacts.  I had to call Green Mountain Access to retrieve my password (those folks are awesome!) because I deleted mine by accident, like a D-U-M.  Then I could get email.  I still can’t figure out why I keep getting the same emails over and over even after I delete them.  Weirdness is afoot.  Anyway, it still seems to get the job done, just in an overwhelming way.

I downloaded a couple of apps as well.  I look forward to using “Planets” once it gets dark.  It gives you a view of the night sky, based on your location (I entered my latitude and longitude) and the time of day (er, night) and tells you what it what.  The view changes as the clock ticks.  You can see when you will be able to see the planets and when the sun rises and sets and the phases of the moon.  Way cool.  And it was free.

I have a couple of other new apps as well (I did spend 99 cents on one) and I think this thing is just the grooviest gadget to hit the household since the cuisinart.  And I haven’t even begun to download music or podcasts.  Playtime stretches before me.  I just need to put the thing down long enough to make lunch for the children and take them to the library.  And sleep.  Oh, and have breakfast.

Maybe in a little while…

Bouncy Castle

A couple of years ago, Santa brought this big inflatable bouncy toy thing. The kids ended up calling it the bouncy castle. We tried to set it up maybe a year ago, after a decent hiatus, but it had too many holes. Last week, however, my wife motivated to patch the holes and blow the thing up. It has gotten lots of use since. My daughter the photographer took a series of photographs yesterday from an insider’s perspective. This short photo essay is the result:

iPod

My wife’s birthday is tomorrow.  She just got a new iPod Touch.  I won’t be seeing her for a while.

She’ll be here, of course, but she will be way occupied with her new toy.  There are lots of features on this thing and she has lots to learn.  Will she use all the features?  Doubt it.  But she will have fun with some of them.

I have to admit I am a little envious.  She’ll use it for music and she’ll use it get online.  I could use the calendar and the email option and the photo option and…

I have been thinking of getting a new PDA in any case.  Mine was a gift from a friend who didn’t use it.  It is handy but I could use more functionality to really make it work like a charm.

I will test this baby out when I get a chance to get my hands on it.  Maybe that will be my new work tool and toy wrapped into one.

It may be some time before I get my hands on it, however.  The testing will have to wait.
